In this activity, students will make a book of their school day. Students will practice writing time on an analog clock as well as become more familiar with their daily routine.
Objective: Students will finish an analog clock face with the time to the hour and half-hour
Materials:
Activity:
Start by reviewing with students their daily schedule. Have students answer what time they go to lunch, centers, recess etc.
Have students think-pair-share why it's important to keep track of their daily schedule and time.
Pass our school day mini book. The book is a template but can be adapted to fit any daily schedule.
At the front of the class, model on the large clock the correct time for each event. Have students fill in that time in their mini-books
Ask students to illustrate each event in the mini-book. Students can take books home to share with their parents what their day looks like.
Assessment:
Evaluate student mini-books to determine that each student has correctly recorded the day and time.
As you are completing the mini-book have different students come up to put the correct time on the large model clock, try to involve many different students in the process to asses individual understanding.
