This activity helps students recognize and describe the months of the year. This activity should be done in combination with the story A Busy Year, more details about this title can be found on the book tab above
Objective: Students will identify and describe the months of the year. Students will recognize living things change over time.
Materials:
Activity:
Read A Busy Year with the class. With your students, discuss the changes that Woody the tree undergoes throughout the year. Ask students to identify what happens during each season of the year.
Have students complete the companion worksheet.
Have students re-tell as a class, the events of the story to review.
*This lesson has many literary skills tie-ins such as story sequencing and could be used as a reading activity
Assessment:
As students are completing the worksheet, circulate the class. Ask students to think about why each event happened in the month it did? Why did the tree lose its leaves in the winter? Have you seen this happen before?
